Fighting Hunger

Childhood Hunger

Ending childhood hunger has always been important to me.  I studied international development and relief at both The George Washington University and American University, earning my BA and Masters degrees with a focus on global child development.  Now that I’m a mother to two beautiful little girls, making sure that all children around the world have enough food to eat is even more important.

These are some facts about childhood hunger, in America and worldwide:

  • More than 17 million kids in America are at risk of hunger. That’s nearly 1 in 4.
  • 15.5 million kids in America live in poverty.
  • 1 out of 4 children in developing countries are underweight.
  • Undernutrition contributes to five million deaths of children under five each year in developing countries.
  • 10.9 million children under five die in developing countries each year. Malnutrition and hunger-related diseases cause 60 percent of the deaths.

These are some of my favorite hunger-relief organizations.  Please consider donating.  Together, we can all help end childhood hunger!  Thank you!
