Iced Hot Chocolate

It seems like everyone is talking about Fall!  Everywhere I turn, there’s proof that fall is coming, from yummy Fall Starbucks drinks to countless pumpkin-infused recipes floating around the blog world.  Yes, there is a slight chill in the air, and, yes, Fall is just around the corner.  BUT, it’s still officially Summertime, and there’s still time to enjoy a few frozen treats!

I’m sure you’ve had iced coffee and iced tea, but have you ever had iced hot chocolate?  I hadn’t, until a few weeks ago when I had a craving for hot chocolate.  It was too hot, so I decided to try a frozen version of our Wintertime favorite.  It was during that same week that I discovered a new product in the ice cream section at the store: Edy’s Slow Churned Shakes.  It’s a frozen shake mix, sort of like ice cream that’s been melted slightly.  I just knew it would work for my hot chocolate shake!

This Iced Hot Chocolate is sure to remind you that summer is still here, but a cold, winter’s day is just around the corner!

Ingredients:

  • 8.1 fl. oz. Edy’s Vanilla Shakes (or 2 cups of vanilla ice cream)
  • 1 cup of hot chocolate, cooled (I used Ghirardelli Chocolate Mocha)
Instructions:
  • Blend the ice cream and the cooled hot chocolate with a blender until thoroughly mixed.
  • Freeze for 30 minutes, and enjoy!
Makes 1-2 servings.  Original recipe by La Casa de Sweets.

Will definitely have to try this recipe-I’ve never even heard of iced hot chocolate, but why not? If it has chocolate, it’s a go!

  • Love this idea! I am not a fan of coffee, so this is a fun drink!

    Exactly!!!

  • I am a HUGE fan of Serendipity 3’s Frrrozen Hot Chocolate, so I will have to see how this compares. 🙂 And yes, it feels like Fall, but there are summer days ahead of us still. No need to change over completely just yet.
